Maa Ashapura B&B
Up early to catch the 8:30 Allahabad Jaipur SF Express. Allahabad has changed its name to Prayagraj, but the train hasn’t changed its name. Arriving just around 1 pm I made my way to the Jaipur Hotel New, down a wholesale pharmaceutical alleyway, inside the pink city. A short rest, then off to meet up with Vikram Chauhan to hammer out the details of a 14-day horse trek across Rajasthan. Originally, I had envisioned a horse trek – yoga combo, but after getting into the details, it was obvious that time and energy would be better served by making two separate adventures.
After working a few hours on our itinerary for the annual fall horse trek that will include the Pushkar Camel Fair, Vikram brought me to his new Maa Ashapura Bed & Breakfast that was under construction. It will be finished by fall, in time for our tour group to stay here when we tour through Jaipur.
The large, three-story building was tucked away down a narrow private alleyway. Strikingly noticeable because of its clean, fresh yellow beauty standing out amongst the other drab buildings surrounding it.
Inside, there is ongoing construction. The attention to detail, even at this stage, is obvious. Stain glass windows cast colorful light into each of the eight custom bedrooms. The beds and tables were beautifully crafted from hardwoods; fixtures in the bathrooms are comparable to a luxury hotel in Europe. The crystal handles on the windows match the blue on the walls! A swimming pool is in the future.
On the rooftop, Vikram painted his vision for me – a covered patio with plants, a huge open buffet for entertaining large parties, a view of the city skyline. I can’t wait!
Who is Maa Ashapura?
Maa Ashapura is the goddess who fulfills all the wishes and desires of her devotees. One of the unique things about most of the Maa Ashapura deities is that she has seven pairs of eyes
Maa Ashapura’s Hospitality
We will be staying in several places that honor Maa Ashapura – One of our first stops will be in Ranthambore at the Maa Ashapura Farm. In Jaipur, we will be staying in this new, Maa Ashapura Bed & Breakfast – not even opened yet. We’ll be one of the first guests there.
Update on Maa Ashapura B & B
Just got these new photos from Vikram, and look at the progress that has been covered in just a few short weeks since I was there! Looking beautiful! Oh, and the official name is Maa Ashapura Niwas.
Definition of niwas – a place of residence; a house, block of flats, etc.
