Itinerary

(The itinerary is subject to change without notice.)

Day One

  • Group meets in Delhi, then we will travel by air-conditioned vehicle to Vrindavan (about 2.5 hours drive) where we will have a tour of the major temples of Vrindavan.  In the evening attend the fire ceremony at the Kesi ghats along the Yamuna River.

Day Two

  • Leave the next morning after breakfast for Agra (1.5 hours drive) to see the Taj Mahal and tour Agra Fort, leaving mid-afternoon for Ranthambore.
  • We’ll take a slight detour along the way to see the impressive Chand Baori stepwell in Abhaneri.
  • Arriving at Maa Ashapura Farm, Ranthambore, in time for evening libations* around the fire pit and dinner poolside.

Day Three

  • After breakfast, we’ll take an open jeep safari into the Ranthambore National Park where we hopefully spot the magnificent Bengal Tiger in his natural habitat.
  • After lunch, we’ll saddle up and take an approximately four-hour ride to Shyampura where we will either camp in tents or villager’s houses, depending on the weather and desires of the group.  First day’s ride will be mostly at a walk so the guides and grooms get an opportunity to access your riding comfort level, and give you a chance to get a feel for your horse.

Day Four

  • This will be our second day out riding.  If you are comfortable with your horse, there will be opportunities for trotting and cantering.  Also, at all times, there will be a jeep nearby to take anyone wishing to take a break from horseback riding.
  • From Buripahari we ride to Khandar and set camp by the Chambul River.  All along the way, we will be stopping in villages to share chai, visit temples or participate in village festivals.  Tonight, we will either camp in tents or stay in Balar Fort.

Day Five

  • Our third day’s ride takes us to the border of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, to Palighat.  Here we will take an hour and a half boat ride on the Chambal River to look for the critically endangered gharial at the National Chambal Gharial Wildlife Sanctuary,
  • From here, we’ll say good-bye to our trusty steeds and take an hour and a half jeep ride back to Maa Ashapura Farm in Ranthambore. Evening libations* and a dip in the swimming pool assuage the tired backsides!

Day Six

  • Open jeep safari into the Ranthambore National Park where we hopefully spot the magnificent Bengal Tiger in his natural habitat.
  • In the afternoon, we’ll take a train (or jeep) to Jaipur, where we’ll be staying at the new Maa Ashapura Bed & Breakfast.

Day Seven

  • Today, we’ll take on the Hawa Mahal, (the famed “Wind Palace”); City Palace and Jantar Mantar.
  • There will be plenty of time for shopping and relaxing.

Day Eight

  • Today, we’ll take a drive to Amber Fort.
  • In the afternoon, we’ll take a three-hour drive to Pushkar where we will settle into the Royal Safari Tent Village. We’ll have breakfast and dinners at the Tent Village

Day Nine

  • Here we’ll mount up again and ride our horses to the Pushkar Camel Fair.  There will be grooms waiting to care for our horses, so we are free to explore the fair and enjoy snacks and drinks as part of our tour group in the main arena.

Day Ten

  • Enjoy horseback riding around the Pushkar Fair.  Walk into the main village to take a dip in Pushkar lake.  See what’s happening in the main arena.  Take a camel ride.

Day Eleven

  • Next stop in Jodhpur.

Day Twelve

  • We’ll be staying at Korta Escape where we will explore the beauty of western Rajasthan on horseback; take in the Jain Temple in Ranakpur and maybe catch a glimpse of a leopard or two.

Day Thirteen

  • Explore the beauty of Korta Escape on horseback.
  • Afternoon three-hour jeep drive to Udaipur

Day Fourteen
